Just after the greenpois0n website (http://www.greenpois0n.com/) was updated this morning, good news has been floating around the jailbreak community. pod2g (the hacker behind SHAtter) released his decryption keys to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4. His jailbreak will be USB based, and hopefully untethered.

These were released on the iPhone Wiki (click here) to confirm that they are finishing up the jailbreak. According to pod2g, Musclenerd already used to jailbreak to confirm that it works. iSpazio thinks this means that the jailbreak will be released soon, and be untethered. There is no exact release time, but it most liekly will be soon, very soon.

IPA God FAKE!!!!!!!!!

Many of you may know what IPA God is. It is an app for non-jailbroken iPods and iPhone to be able to get cracked apps.  Recently, pod2g has declared it fake:

Ringtone creating apps? ON THE APP STORE?!?

Apple has recently been revising their App Guidelines many times, and their newest accepted apps are: ring-tone creating apps?! Many developers are cashing into this new fad of apps, with apps such as: : Best Ringtone Maker, Ringtone Designer Pro, Music Ringtone Maker, Ringtone Maker Pro, Custom Ringtone Maker, and others. This is proof that when Apple changes their Guidelines and let's new apps into the app store, then it may be for the better. Previously people had to make their own ringtones using software on PCs or Macs.

SHAtter coming soon!

 A very trusted source known as "veeence" has announced that SHAtter will be realeased soon. Veeence is a very well known person in the jailbreaking community, being the administrator of the iPhone Wiki and the creator of modded blacksn0w on iOS4.0 According to his post on twitter:

                  "They won't wait for iOS 4.2 to release SHAtter. iOS 4.1 will be jailbroken soon."

This is pretty big news. This means that SHAtter / greenpois0n will be released sometime within the next few weeks. The jailbreak is not yet confirmed to be tethered or untethered.

sn0wbreeze 2 JUST RELEASED!

iH8snow, one of the famous hackers that has developed jailbreaking tools, has just released the new updated sn0wbreeze 2.0 which will allow a jailbreak for 4.1 and all other firmwares, including 4.2 (beta 1, only for iPod Touch 2G) for ALL iDevices that are iPhone 3GS or older. It creates custom firmware, which allows you to upgrade your firmware with preserving baseband to unlock your iPhone with the existing ultrasn0w version.

Compatible iDevices:

• iPod Touch 1G
• iPod Touch 2G
• iPhone
• iPhone 3G
• iPhone 3GS (required jailbreak on 3.1.2 tethered)
• iPod Touch 3G (required jailbreak on 3.1.2 tethered)

iPod Touch 2G (MC Model) BOOTROM EXPLOIT?!?!

Everybody knows about pod2g, the guy who has found many bootrom exploits, including SHAtter (the IPT 4G bootrom exploit). Just recently he found a bootrom exploit for the iPod Touch 2G MC Model. This will allow the iPod Touch to be jailbreakable on ALL firmwares. It is the usb_control_msg(0xA1, 1) exploit, which is his 4th bootrom exploit to date. He has contributed much for the jailbreak community, so kudos to you, Mr. pod2g.

The exploit itself is hard to understand.

A heap overflow exists in the iPod touch 2G (both old and new) bootrom’s DFU Mode when sending a USB control message of request type 0xA1, request 0×1.

On newer devices, the same USB message triggers a double free() when the image upload is marked as finished, also rebooting the device (but that’s not exploitable because the double free() happens in a row). posixninja analyzed and explained this one.

Also, this exploit will be used in the new sn0wbreeze, which will be released later today by 6:00PM pacific by iH8snow.

Jailbreak iOS 4.1 / 4.2 Beta 1 for iPhone 3g/ iPod 2G with redsn0w 0.9.6

Just recently, a jailbreak has been released for a jailbreak for iOS 4.1 and the 4.2 Beta 1 for the iPhone 3G and the iPod 2G. redsn0w 0.9.6 is the software required for this jailbreak. redsn0w website: http://redsn0w.com/ .

Directions on how to jailbreak iOS 4.1 / 4.2 Beta 1 for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. (directions taken from http://www.spiritjb.org/)

Steps:

Step 1: Download iOS 4.1 for your version of iPhone 3G / iPod Touch 2G (download links at the end).
Step 2: Update to this latest firmware using the IPSW file you just downloaded via iTunes 10.
Step 3:  Launch Redsn0w 0.9.6b1 (download links at the end) and Browse for iOS 4.1 Firmware. 
Step 4: Select "Install Cydia" and click on Next

Step 5: Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.

Step 6: At this stage you will need to put your iPhone in DFU mode by holding “Power” button and then while holding the “Power” button, you will now have to hold “Home” button too. Now after few seconds release “Power” button but keep holding “Home” button until installation begins.

Step 7: You will Get a Jailbroken Device as soon as the process ends.

Note: If you have an unlocked iPhone 3G with ultrasn0w, you have to stay away from Redsn0w, as it updates your baseband to latest version, which is still unlockable till now.

NOTE: The jailbreak for the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2nd Generation non-MC model are untethered... while the jailbreak for iPod Touch 2nd Generation is tethered, meaning that you'd have to jailbreak it all over again.  Jailbreak at your own desire.

Only a few weeks ago, the jailbreak community received one of the best news ever; a bootrom exploit found by pod2g allowed the iPod Touch 4th generation to be jailbreakable on all firmwares!!!!  Greenpois0n will be the new name for this jailbreak, and it will be able to jailbreak ALL iDevices on iOS 4.1. pod2g passed the work onto the Chronic Dev Team, and they will be releasing the jailbreak most likely sometime before iOS 4.2 is out.For greenpois0n news, goto www.greenpois0n.com/ and to follow the chronic dev team's blog go to: http://chronic-dev.org/blog/
